Jay Wasco- solo  Egotar and Vocal

Recorded at the Cottage in Easton, CT

Summer 2002

I enjoy playing old Elton John tunes on the Egotar because of the wonderful chord inversions they lend themselvs to. It's fun to take that kind of pianistic quality and apply it to guitars. The bass on songs like "Someone Saved My Life Tonight was always fluid and would often gravitate to thirds and fifths. Kind of makes it all sound like a drunken, happy little carnival.

In the verses of "Rocket Man" here, the Egotar is being plucked behind the slide. This creates a nice effect where the string produces two notes at once. It sounds a bit like a sitar.

I put together this version from memory and grabbed the lyrics off the internet. A friend later informed me that the sub choruses are suppose to repeat...oh well.

Here's a  partial set list of covers that I perform on this thing. At some point I hope to get around to recording all these. The Egotar is great instrument for writing songs but my  focus here is expanding as a player while producing some familiar  music that's easy to listen to "for a change".

I'm always available for solo performances in the tri-state  area. It's light and chill.
